Tapassya started this initiative, since 2010, to collect old dress from organizations in and around Salt Lake and Rajarhat. The collected old dresses are sorted by Tapassya members and are distributed to the needy people in remote villages just after Puja. Tapassya also purchases blankets and sarees, which are very essential to villagers.
Annual Dress and Warm Clothes Distribution Drive - 2011
Taking momentous inspiration from last year’s success (please read the report below from 2010) Tapassya members distributed 1000 new blankets and 860 new sarees along with old clothes to nearly 1000 families in Sundarban and Purulia villages. Tapassya spent around 2.5 lakhs rupees towards this.
360 new blankets, 260 new sarees along with a generous collection of old clothes were distributed to the villages of Sunderbans mostly around Satjelia, one of the worst affected areas by Aila on 5th and 6th November 2011. Having served 380 families in Sunderbans, Tapassya set out to the villages of Purulia on 12th and 13th November 2011, distrubting 688 new blankets and 600 new sarees and a heavy lot of old clothes among 516 families.
